Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth
The year is 1962. Havana, Cuba. Open on INDIANA JONES and his new associate BUTEMBO, (think Idris Elba) a Congolese pirate who once worked for Captain Katanga. The two are attempting to make a trade for the long lost map to the Fountain of Youth, once discovered by Juan Ponce de Leon. The Cuban Guerrilla army attacks the palace just as Indy gets his hands on the map. Indy and Butembo escape Cuba just as the government falls, but the map is destroyed. End cold open.
Act I. We’re now back at home with MARIAN.Indiana is feeling his age, he’s lost a step and after accidentally destroying the priceless relic, Indiana vows to end his adventuring ways. Marian, of course, doesn’t believe him. She’s now the head curator of the Natural History Museum. We learn Mutt has joined the military. Butembo calls Indiana from South America where he has a lead on another relic, Indiana says he’s retired.
Cut to: Marshall College. Once again Professor Jones teaches his archaeology class. A curious student keeps asking him about the events in Cairo revolving the chase for the Lost Ark of the Covenant. The young man seems to know details that had to have come from someone who was there. After class the student corners Jones and asks him what happened to the Capuchin monkey in Cairo. We learn that this young man, HELLER, was there in 1936 during the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark, and was a Nazi soldier. But how?
After WWII the Nazis escaped to South America and the Caribbean, Heller discovered the actual Fountain of Youth! Heller is 56, but looks 18. He promises to lead Indiana Jones to the Fountain of Youth in return for a treasure once possessed by Indiana’s old nemesis, Belloq. Indiana refuses.
Jones goes to Marian’s museum where he finds out that she has collapsed and has been rushed to the hospital. We learn she has cancer. The only way Indiana Jones can save his wife is to find the Fountain of Youth. Jones must team up with Heller, the former Nazi, to break into his wife’s museum in order to steal Belloq’s old relic.
End Act I.
